First Grade Models - What Causes Day and Night

Of course I don't have any pictures of this doing this project with First Grade students, because we were too busy making our models.  Here is the example they followed. Really important to get an image of the Earth from the poles so that the rotation is accurate!

Second Grade Engineers Wind Blown Seeds

As part of our Life science unit, second graders have been studying what makes good characteristics for a windblown seed. We culminated this unit with an engineering task in which the students created their own windblown seeds.

Students in The After School Club Explore The Carvey

Lucie deLaBruere - of Create Make Learn fame - was kind enough to loan us the use of her new Carvey - a desktop CNC-for a few months to explore. Knowing that I love to bring woodworking to kids-and bring new technology kids- it seemed like a natural merging of the two. We are just beginning to explore what this could look like in our STEM lab setting.



Fourth Grade Craft Stick Constructions


The Fourth Grade has been working on Popsicle Stick Constructions.  From trucks to Ferris wheels to jewelry boxes.  They have been learning symmetry, balance, adherence, and persistence.
